Mockingjay’s Strategy Series: Queen of Banquet

I’ve successfully claimed Queen of Banquet three times now. The first time I intentionally was going for it, the other two I claimed spur of the moment.

For starters, this is the one point in LOP where I’ve found that having one confidant that you pour everything into pays off significantly. Mine is Yin Zhen. 😍 From the beginning, he’s been the one I’m set on getting to the Everlasting Love affection level (a year and half later, I’m only 290,000 attribute points away 😂). More on confidant strategies later. Back to QOB. So because he’s my all powerful genie, I now score 150% for all banquet related points when I use him.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case the first time I went for QOB. I decided to go for that while our local sever was hosting a “mooncake event.” I wasn’t all that prepared for it either. I had the ingots, but was short on banquet invites and it overlapped with the Christmas event that year. And thanks to preggo brain, I decided the QOB title was what I wanted to more than anything else. (Hind sight, I would’ve let the other person have it because I’m still bummed I didn’t get the title that was available. 😅)

So here’s the story of how the event progressed. From the start, the person I was competing with was opening and closing large banquets like it was going out of style. And two days into it I was convinced there was no way I was going to be able to claim the title. However, on the last day of the day of the event, I spent most of it figuring out how to jump 20k points with the resources I had available to me. Even going so far as to top up $.99 just to pull it off. And I did it! 🎉 Most stressful five minutes of life.

So I finally did it, got a title and was like “I’m good now. Never have to do that again.” Well, as time went on, servers merged, people slowly stopped playing, and then we got an update that involved confidant attribute levels giving you banquet point bonuses. Didn’t think much about it, until the next QOB cycled through. I suddenly found myself in a position where I had to watch how many large banquets I open during QOB. Opening more than five, or one a day, can easily keep me in the top three. Which is why the last two times I claimed the title, it just came down to whether or not I was willing to spend the ingots on some additional banquets. Or more accurately if I needed the robes. 😆 Cause let’s face it, we ALWAYS need more robes!

Anyway, from my own experience and that of others, here are some other tips to note before attempting to go for QOB:

Have multiple confidants with intimacy level above 400. You’ll score over 100% in banquet point bonuses for each banquet you open and mini games you play.
Have plenty of ingots and banquet invitations stocked piled. You’ll need at least 2,500 ingots and 100 invites. 😅 PRO TIP: Open a large banquet before reset and close it out once the event has started. It will give you a head start.
Be ready for a rush at during the final minutes of the event. Maybe your sever is more chill and this doesn’t matter too much. But from what I’ve heard and seen, last minute jumping is a strategy invoked by many LOP players use. And I’ll admit, it’s gotten old. I really wish it wasn’t a trend.
And finally, break out a calculator and do a little math. This will help you maximize the resources you spend and not leave you in game broke by the end.
