Leading a guild on my main account! 😜 (What, did you think I was quitting? 🙃 Nope, not yet!)
So yes, while I’ve already been down this road before on my F2P account a couple years back, it is VERY different/slightly challenging doing the task now. And here’s why:
1) There are not a lot of actives players
2) Of the active players remaining, the more powerful ones are in the same guild that just booted my guild out of first place two weeks ago. (But that’s more the result of our VIP11 with 22B power just up and leaving our guild to join theirs. 🙃 I guess I can’t fault them for that, but the timing is just odd to me. See next point.)
3) Our cross server queen, who’s in my guild, just stopped playing three weeks ago. I hope everything’s okay, but it’s also a bummer. Who knows, maybe they’ll be back! But yes, no activity means no progress. 😩
4) I’m also not sure how to revitalize things without coming off as annoying. 😅 I’m just really chatty all of sudden and want to reconnect with people. See how life is going while we see what Modo decides to throw at us next.
The real goal is not to let it go up in flames. 😏
However, it does give me the opportunity to do something creative in the game while I stock pile robes.
Speaking of robes, and somewhat unrelated, I started playing Hogwarts Mystery again! It’s been nice for the most part, though there have been days when trying to update both games has a been difficult. (I mean I am homeschooling a kindergartener and managing a household, among other things. 🤪) But it has been interesting to see how LOP and they use gimmicks to get you to spend money in game.
Hogwarts Mystery is WAY more doable as a F2P, because you aren’t so much in competition with other players as you are yourself. You’re spending money to customize a space that no one but you sees, unless you share it outside of the game. And let’s be real, what you’re purchasing in game for Hogwarts Mystery isn’t giving you as a player perks beyond more energy to progress through quests more quickly. LOP, on the other hand, at least gives you perks for spending money, but since you're competing against other players in real time, they sort of have to. I mean, how else are they going to make you keep coming back? And don’t tell me you’re not keeping tabs on who spent money on those paywalls, because I have. 😅 (Side note, I really get a kick out of watching how different my in game style tastes are compared to the remaining players out there.)
However, that is the biggest plus, at least for me, when it comes to Hogwarts Mystery. I literally took a 3 year break and picked up right where I left off. Now it’s been back to back special timed adventures for the last two months, but still it’s nice to know if I leave again it will be there waiting for me. Which I think is the reason why I haven’t stopped playing LOP yet. Since I know I will lose progress if I don’t sign-in and that idea bothers me, I must not be ready to stop. Even though I did heavily consider it after our guild dropped into second place... Then I woke up the next morning and was fine. 😆
Anyway, I finally reached one of my lifetime goals in LOP:
Gurun Princess Shuning level!
But yes, I think I’ll keep focusing on my never ending goal, evening out my partner stack. 😩 It’s just funny how the longer you play LOP the more you think about how you would do things differently if knew what you knew then as you do now. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to go and start a new account in the past couple of months. You know, like an actual video game. Since you know where you’re headed, you can make different decisions. But such is the life of mobile gaming. 🙃 I think that’s part of the reason I wanted to start playing Hogwarts Mystery again. To satisfy that desire to see results a little more quickly and have something a little less competitive. That or I was just feeling nostalgic this holiday season.
Whoops, didn’t mean to ramble on there about nothing in particular. 😅
Oh right, and Mysteries of the Four Symbols? I just stuck with Yin and Cheng’s outfits, the others… Left something to be desired for me. I’m looking forward to Mozi’s event and the Christmas one, I guess too. We’ll see how those go, and I’ll be back to chat then!
